So I'm discovering there is so much to learn about blogging -- and here I was such a simpleton to think that I just post my ramblings online and by magic I'd have a bazillion followers. Ha! So I'm trying to figure out this blog hopping thing. From what I can tell, it's like an online party where a bunch of blogs are in one place and you can shop for the ones you like. Shopping...now that's something I understand! So I'm giving it a shot today with "Follow My Blog Friday" -- see the widget on the right? I've found a bunch of blogs to follow and am hoping to get some followers too. Crossing my fingers...
I really wish there was "Blogging for Dummies" somewhere as I could really use it. Who knows, maybe there is and I just haven't found it yet.
I'm taking advice if anyone is handing it out!

I use Facebook and Twitter as accounts directly related to my blog. I've had a FB page from the day that I signed up for my blog and I've received a few new followers from it. I would say FB has helped in getting traffic and hits to my site. I receive about 20 new visitors from FB on a daily basis and I expect that number to grow as my page grows.
Twitter - sorry to say I am the latest person (probably in the world). I've only now signed up for a Twitter account. I've had it about three days now. Never used Twitter before. So I can't really say how it will help me. My plans for Twitter is a little different than FB though. I would like to use Twitter to help me earn money through my blog.
Monetizing your blog starts with traffic. All the articles I've read has stated that traffic is the biggest influence on earning money. So that's my goal right now. I want to get some serious traffic to my site. Afterward, I'll see about monetizing my blog. I have a couple of ads running already and I've earned just over 30US with it. But it can improve if I have more traffic coming in.
